First post, i love the idea of this community.
to honor that here is my first track, an instrumental piece i wrote one recent afternoon with my daughter so she could see how nothing can become something!
90% of this is done with an $80 mooer loop pedal and sonar. the percussion is me punching a piano stool with a sm57 under it, and a small container of rice. other than that its just electric guitar and classical guitar.
the goal was to create the feeling of walking somewhere but your really tired.. That’s all haha just walking. it doesn’t always have to be deep.
Did i hit the mark?
Also, i have no idea how to upload the track in this site, hence the link. help haha
Hey Gooch welcome! Realllly nice melody, really does feel floaty. Tired, perhaps - definitely a "wandering" vibe! Love that you didnt over engineer it yet achieved a unique sound even by simply recording the percs with whatever you might of had around you at the time. Since you used a loop pedal, I'Read more

Since you used a loop pedal, I’m curious as to when you decided to say to yourself, “yep thats it”. I personally find myself sometimes added more and more over my loops. It sounds like you kept the vibe in tact without going on tangents, I could be wrong tho!
Great first tune thanks for sharing, keen to hear more from ya!

Given that the loop pedal doesn’t let me go back, i have to be a bit reserved in my layers. the Less is more approach to music helps here. In writing, playing or producing, its so tempting to keep adding haha I try to stop before i feel its done; Like stopping eating when your 80% full. This tends to land pretty close most of the time.
i often remind myself the role of a creative is to get the immense amount of sensory information and emotion we are trying to articulate, and finding the most efficient and articulate means to deliver it. 3 notes can relay a feeling of disappointment, 5 beats timed right can amp someone up for battle.
