Something I’m trying to do more of myself. Sometimes we get locked into building and adding more to a tune when maybe its already there and all we have to do is “shape” it!

broooooo.... just keep it ambient... it was perfect as is! Love it! When left like that, it literally doesnt need anything. Just mix and master it and let it go!

Listening to this live during our ‘GoodHood Watch’ chat was a privilege! Something about listening with THE ARTIST who made the tune elevates the experience! Or perhaps even being able to gain insights to the rationale behind the lyrics… the purpose of the song sort of gave it a whole other dimension.

It’s interesting to me, coz its not as if mentioning the background and the ‘why’ of a song in an upload would really hit-home as much as it did when you shared it on the call. Which makes me think about how music is interpreted generally by listeners when they receive the final product… they don’t necessarily get to have that 1on1 chat with the artist (which is why watching interviews are so cool, coz we get those insights that are otherwise left out in the release).

Regardless, I don’t think its a must-have to explicitly state the reasons of a tune, which could be argued that its the whole point of art; is to interpret reality in such a way that isn’t quite as painful as the subject itself. Super great talking points!

But I am incredibly impressed with what you’ve got here bro and can’t wait to see where you take it as rahmsc has mentioned. The Sub Fatty bass really comes through nicely. Keen to see how you end up processing the vocals as well for the Final Cut. Definitely a keeper!

The chords that come in at the end could be an opportunity for you to flex your skills and do a bit of a solo. Nothing hectic, even if you just ran up and down the scales in between the chord stabs you have there… Even if it doesnt make the final cut, perhaps a challenge for yourself as I know you’ve been levelling up in this regard.

And especially since the overall tune is a sort of maintaining the same vibe throughout, a lil bit of spice at the end for the listeners interest wouldn’t go astray!

    Well done bro!

Some basic ways you could experiment with is by duplicating the Vox track and cutting the highs on one and lows on the other, and even a 3rd for the mid range, and then apply some “rooming” effect to the highs ever so lightly, while surgically going to town on where the muddiness is after scanning with the analyzer tool to get a proper read of the frequency.

Otherwise, I think def experiment with how you’d like to process your vocals, as this is a whole area to harness besides the beats, a super dope adventure to embark on!

Really dig how promising this tune is! May is a no brainer, she'll lace a track and elevate it angelically as she clearly does here! Asking coz I appreciate how all the elements work together perfectly in the chorus, which can be difficult to make happen serendipitously! Well done!

That gap at 1:14 tho! Reminds me how sometimes we tend to try and do too much for fills when a well crafted mute on most/if not all tracks, does the job - especially when you do it a tad bit early and brought it back the way you did. Re: spoken word… what sort of vocal range do you have in mind/think would suit? And with your own vocal chops, are you looking to have someone else on the credits over the convenience of doing it yourself? Lovin the tune so far as per my guy x

Realllllly diggin the arp melody in this, love it... would like it brought back to hear it as a suggestion, perhaps as a 2nd build up to a climatic end? Also am starting to notice the signature Phameon vocals 👌 almost expect it now on all your tunes!

I imagine you’ve got a backlog written and ready to go from the stories you posted in the studio with her. Really digging how you’ve chopped her voice to create that pulsating effect like another instrument. I’ve been using the Roland VT-4 since I can’t sing myself but it’s amazing what the human voice can achieve even if you’re not saying words!
